My name is Maurice Tate, the president and founder of K.M. Elite.
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Master of Business Administration degree from Gardner Webb University. I’m married to Brandy Tate and we have three young boys Isaiah, Silas, and Seth. I’m employed with Cleveland County Schools at Kings Mountain High School as a Business Teacher. Prior to my employment with Cleveland County Schools, I taught three years at North Gaston High School and have worked in the mental health sector for six years as a Program Supervisor and Program Director respectively. I currently serve on the College of Elders Board at Friendship Christian Church where Bishop John A. McCullough II presides.
Kings Mountain Elite originated in 2004 where we initially trained our youth the basic basketball fundamentals, strength and training techniques, along with character building qualities during the summer months. The vision has expanded and our goal is to establish facilities and community programming for the youth as well parental and career training programs for adults. My main focus is to train, guide, and develop a generation of Trailblazers to become productive citizens in society. My favorite quote pertaining to vision and progress comes from the words of Martin Luther King Jr. is that “you don’t have to see the whole staircase to take the first step.” My mission is to perpetuate this inspiration by taking the appropriate steps in building champions today for tomorrow’s takeover.
